Tennessee Senator-elect Marsha Blackburn (R) says securing gun rights should be the very first thing America does in light of the Wednesday night massacre in Thousand Oaks, CA.
During an interview with Fox News’ Sandra Smith, Blackburn brought up the Borderline Bar and Grill shooting that left 12 victims dead, including a police sergeant. When asked what the country needs to do in light of the mass shootings that have taken place throughout the year, Blackburn immediately launched into a defense of the Second Amendment.
“What we do is say how do we make certain that we protect the Second Amendment and protect our citizens. We have always done that in this country.”
Blackburn went on to discuss mental health issues while remarking that she finds the situation “absolutely heartbreaking” and adding her thoughts and prayers to the victims.
